Of the nearly 2,500 certified teachers at Gilbert Public Schools, we employ approximately 1,300 teachers with Masters or Doctorate degrees. More than fifty Nationally Board Certified Teachers are employed at GPS, and more of our educators are involved in the certification process. Over 2,600 support staff ensures that students have safe transportation, clean and well-maintained buildings, educational support, and access to a variety of services. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards formally announced its 2008 Class of National Board Certified Teachers to the public and media, December 9, National Board Certification Day. Gilbert Public Schools is extremely proud to announce that the District has 74 National Board Certified Teachers, the most NBCTs in the state of Arizona, in terms of cumulative total. Fifteen GPS teachers earned National Board Certification in 2008. They are:
National Board Certification is the teaching profession’s highest standard of excellence. Candidates who voluntarily apply for National Board Certification have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment, and peer review.
