About Superstition Springs Elementary
At Superstition Springs we strive to do what is best for our students and encourage a positive and respectful environment. Our teachers combine successful instructional strategies with quality assessments to provide each student an opportunity to excel. This is evident by our Excelling Label from the Arizona Department of Education. In addition, teachers incorporate the six pillars of character in lessons throughout the year. We celebrate student's good character with weekly drawings and quarterly “Powerhouses.” Students participate in many extra-curricular activities at SSE, such as: chorus, student council, band, battle of the books, oratorical contest, honor patrol, science camp, chess club, keyboarding and art masterpiece. We believe strong partnerships between students, families, school staff, and members of the community impact learning and benefit all students. We invite you to become part of our Sidewinder family.
Mission Statement
Superstition Springs Elementary is responsible for providing a student-centered learning environment, which is committed to providing each student an opportunity to excel academically.
Core Beliefs:
- We believe that teamwork is shared leadership based on collaboration and trust.
- We believe that by working as a team, we can better serve the individual needs of each child.
- We believe that learning in the classroom should be applicable to real life, and should encourage students to be self-directed, motivated and responsible citizens.
- We believe that all classes are highly engaged and tasks students are assigned and the work they are encouraged to undertake have meaning and significance in their lives now and are evaluated with quality assessments that provide appropriate feedback.
- We believe that providing an active, hands-on environment that is meaningful to the child can enhance learning.
- We will provide a school climate that is open and inviting to families and the community.
- We believe that everyone learns in different ways; therefore differentiation is a crucial component to teaching and learning.
- We believe strong partnerships that include students, families, school staff, and members of the community impact learning and benefit all. We believe that as educators at SSE it is our obligations to demonstrate professionalism, a shared vision and a positive attitude towards our goals.
