About Canyon Rim Elementary School

In our eighth year, the Canyon Rim faculty is excited to continue our reputation for outstanding community involvement and excelling academic instruction. Known for our strong community, students at Canyon Rim work together to make a difference in our community through service projects that demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character. Our staff is committed to educational excellence and strives to provide learning opportunities that will challenge the mind of each child. With a focus on writing development for the 2009/2010 school year, we have implemented Write…From the Beginning school-wide. This is reflective of our commitment to continue excelling academically while modeling a life long love of learning for students as teachers actively pursue staff development activities that enhance their instructional skills. Additionally, we are planning many exciting opportunities for students to showcase their unique strengths and grow as individuals. We enjoy an active PTA and have several opportunities for parents and community members to become involved in and out of the classroom. We are excited to partner with you as we build on our reputation of a school that is dedicated to meeting student needs in a safe, loving environment.

Mission Statement

The Mission of Canyon Rim Elementary is to provide a quality education to all students ensuring maximum success. Based on respect and responsibility, the teamwork of staff, parents, and students will build a positive, safe environment with high standards and expectations.

We are committed to encouraging life long learning and to provide

  • quality instruction
  • character education to build responsible citizens and
  • accountability for student performance

Transportation Policy/Procedures

Students in the Gilbert District have an opportunity to use school buses if they live more than one mile from the school campus. Walking is encouraged as we are a neighborhood school and have crossing guards available to cross students at busy intersections. Canyon Rim students in grades 2-6 may ride bicycles to school, provided they wear a helmet. For safety reasons, scooters, skateboards and heelies are not allowed on campus. We have a systematic car pick up and drop off system in the front of the school where parents drive into the front loop pick-up/drop-off lane and board or release their children at a designated area. The back gate near Plana Ave., in Mesqute Canyon, is not a vehicle pick-up and drop-off area. For the safety of our staff and students, please use the front loop for vehicle pick-up and drop-off.
